BIRMINGHAM: It is not certain that India will play Kuldeep Yadav in the first Test, but England wants to neglect nothing in their preparation for the Chinese.

For the last two days of practice before the first Test, the direction of the England team called Akhil Patel, the Chinese native of Nottingham, for that they are ready to face the spinner Uttar Pradesh. Akhil, incidentally, is the younger brother of England, Samit Patel, who has played six tests and 36 ODI for his country.

"They called me to join the English nets a few days ago and I was very happy to do it, of course, the idea is to be ready for Kuldeep ", Akhil told TOI after Tuesday's training session.

He continued to play bowling for two and a half hours with England coach Mark Ramprakash who told him the areas to hit. While the English lower order seemed to have difficulty choosing it, Joe Root seemed rather comfortable. "Yes, Root played me pretty well," added Akhil.

Root played Kuldeep very well in the last two One-Dayers won by England. In both games, Test captain scored for centuries and did not have too much trouble going from front to back to the mystery spinner. It seems that he pbaded on the knowledge to other English players who seemed comfortable against Akhil.
