Next week, Madonna releases a new studio album, Madame X her first since 2015 Rebel Heart . It is the subject of a long profile of the New York Times published today, as vast as it is interesting. The pop star and riddle talks about her coming to New York, her motherhood, her aging and so much more. Naturally, she also asked questions on current topics such as Harvey Weinstein and Donald Trump.
As for Weinstein, whose company was distributing his 1991 documentary Truth Or Dare she had this to say:
Harvey crossed boundaries and lines and was incredibly badually attractive and advanced with me when we worked together; he was married at the time and I was certainly not interested.
I was aware that he had done the same thing with many other women I knew in the area. And we were all, "Harvey has to do it because he has a lot of power and he's so successful, his films are doing very well and everyone wants to work with him, so you have to stand it." So that's all. So when that happened, I really felt like "Finally". I have not applauded since the summit because I will never encourage the disappearance of someone. Anyway, I do not think it's good karma. But it was good that someone who abused his power for so many years was called and held responsible.
And as for Trump, whom she has not been a fan of for a long time, she said that she should never ask him for a date, as was said in the past, and added that Trump was falling in the clbadic stereotype of the alpha male as being weak:
They overcompensated their insecurity – a man who is safe with himself, a human who is safe with himself, does not have to harbad people all the time time. "What about alpha women, did I ask? "It's the same," she says. "It's good to be strong, but again, it's always a question of where does this force come from? What are your intentions? In what context do you use your strength? Abuse yourself of your power? Women can also abuse their power. And if this is also supported by a lack of intelligence, emotional or intellectual, a lack of experience in life, a lack of compbadion, then it is really a bad mix.
There's a lot more in Madonna's profile and her upcoming album. , Mrs. X . You can read it here.
A fun fact that leaves you with: Among Madonna's many works of art and memorabilia, she has a handwritten lyrics sheet of John Lennon's "Imagine" – she covered the song – hanging over the toilet from home.
