"It is deeply regrettable that the Prime Minister of Pakistan has chosen to politicize the pious opportunity to materialize the long-awaited demand of the Sikh community to develop the Kartarpur corridor by making an unjustified reference to Jammu-and- Kashmir, which is an integral and inalienable part of India, "said the Ministry of External Affairs in a statement.
The MEA statement also struck Pakistan for its continued support of terrorism.
"Pakistan is reminded that it must fulfill its international obligations and take effective and credible measures to stop providing shelter and all types of cross-border terrorism support from territories under its control, "the statement said.
India's reaction came after Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan made reference to Kashmir during his speech at the founding ceremony of the Kartarpur corridor.
Imran said that he wished for a solid relationship with India and that he was ready to take two steps if New Delhi took one.
"We want to progress in our relations with India," Khan said at a ceremony attended by Pakistani army chief, Qamar Javed Bajwa, representatives of the Government, Union Ministers Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Hardeep Singh Puri and foreign diplomats.
"If France and Germany who have waged several wars can live in peace, why can not India and Pakistan," said the Pakistani Prime Minister.
However, earlier in the day, Foreign Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj made it clear that there could be no talks with Pakistan as long as it would not have ceased. support terrorism against India.
"If Pakistan does not prevent terrorist activities in India, there will be no dialogue and we will not participate in SAARC," Swaraj said.
Sushma also said that the Kartarpur Corridor initiative was not related to the process of dialogue with Pakistan.
