After days of speculation, it was finally confirmed that actors Priyanka Chopra and Mindy Kaling would team up for a new film, based on a big Indian wedding.
Universal won the auction for the collaboration, produced by Mindy and Dan Goor – Brooklyn creative producer Nine Nine. The duo will write the wedding comedy, which will feature Priyanka. Mindy is also likely to lead.
Although the details of the upcoming project have not yet been revealed, it has been featured as Crazy Rich Asians and My Big Fat Greek Wedding, reports Deadline Hollywood.
This will probably revolve around cultural conflicts during a large wedding in India. The comedy will be a co-production of Goor, Mindy's Kaling International, Priyanka's Purple Pebble Pictures and Howard Klein of 3Arts.
Sharing the news, Priyanka wrote on Instagram: "Two women pbadionate about telling good stories have just been given the go-ahead for THEIR story in their own way. So proud of this incredible partnership with @mindykaling and #dangoor! We are about to show you what it means to be modern, global and Indian. We see each other at the cinema!
Just days ago, Priyanka and Mindy were seen together in New York. Photos showing the duo hanging out together were reported online, fueling rumors of a possible buildup on the professional front.
