Once Ryan Reynolds imagined himself, at best, Wilson on Home Improvement or Mr. Furley on Three's Company.
"When I started in this business, my ultimate goal was to be the wacky neighbor in a sitcom," Reynolds said. "It has taken a different path."

In an interview, Reynolds explained his transformation into Pokemon.
You have performed characters in several movies, including The Croods and Turbo, but you have also created the character through the capture of facial movements on detective Pikachu.
Reynolds: I did about an hour of motion capture and performance capture on Deadpool 2 as a Juggernaut. But it's the first time I'm really in this world in an immersive way, where I shape the arc of a character from start to finish with motion capture. You wear a tracksuit, from head to toe. There are several cameras attached to your head, which is completely crazy. I'm sure in our Instagram world, people are wondering where they can buy this for their personal use.
You must have had a lot of freedom in considering that it was a Pokemon character rather than, for example, a monkey.
Reynolds: This is a mythical pocket monster. There is no connection with reality with this character. It's pretty free, which is its own strange burden. Once the possibilities become unlimited, you can lock yourself in a bit. It took me a few sessions to realize that everything was possible and to embrace that. It's just about accessing that part of your 6-year-old brain that's exclusively fueled by imagination, and let it go wild. I would like to be able to make all movies like this one.
Is there less PG B-roll in your environment?
Reynolds: My god, yes. There is probably a completely different movie that they could cut together and that would not make the PG movie at all. When you feel that kind of freedom, you do not really settle for filing systems or that sort of thing.
Your career really seemed to be alive when you made your way less. traditional traditional men.
Reynolds: Some of the things I've done in the past that you would have clbadified as not working may have been times when I went into the role of the leader archetypal. role of the man. When Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, the clash of cultures was often depicted by drawings of Mickey Mouse and Deadpool. Are you worried that future Deadpool movies will be relaxed under Disney?
Reynolds: No, no. I have no reason to worry about everything I've heard about Disney in public and in private. So at this point, I have no reason to worry particularly.
You have become so connected to Deadpool. Make Inspector Pikachu a conscious hub for something more family friendly? People are already overflowing with beauty.
Reynolds: I've never really looked at things from an angle of 30,000 feet: How is it going to shape public perception of me? In all honesty, it gives me the nausea to think about it. Really, it came organically. They had animated a test example of Pikachu and they had obviously tried to hear a whole range of actors. And they tried mine and for whatever reason, it worked, according to them. Reynolds: I love marketing. I have a company, Maximum Effort Productions, and that's what we do. We are a film production company, but we are also a marketing company. We do marketing for Aviation Gin, a lot for Deadpool, a lot for Pikachu and a few other companies. It's an explosion. I think marketing is the most interesting when you recognize and play with the cultural landscape.
Part of that is an imitation of fake social media battle with Hugh Jackman. Do you have a message for him?
Reynolds: (laughs) I will save my catalog of insults for Hugh Jackman during our next interview.
