James Gunn is likely to direct the sequel to Suicide Squad and move from the Marvel Universe to the DC Universe | Hollywood

James Gunn, recently dismissed from Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, was hired to direct DC Comics' Suicide Squad 2.

According to an article in the Hollywood Reporter, the director is negotiating to direct the second suicide. Squad film, a development that was not totally unexpected since he was already writing the script of the film.

Gunn, remember, was fired from the Guardians of Galaxy by Disney after the reoccurrence of the old tweets of 2008 and 2009 in which he had made insensitive and controversial jokes. The tweets were considered offensive because they dealt with topics such as rape and pedophilia. According to some sources, Gunn apologized for these tweets and also removed them from his account.

The last two months have been unpleasant for the director, after his ouster from the Marvel franchise, but it looks like his fortune is turning out for the better. According to Collider, not only does he shoot in Suicide Squad 2, another of his films, but Brightburn is scheduled to release it on May 24th.

Actress Margot Robbie recently shared the first image of her look from DC in DC County. The Oscar winner will resume her role as Harley Quinn, the maniacal criminal turned hero, in the spin-off of Suicide Squad.

The Suicide Squad 2016, directed by David Ayer, boasted of being part of a set that included Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Cara Delevingne, among others.
