Looks like it was just yesterday that I regretted the absence of "is it okay or not?" The drama Undertaker WrestleMania (because it was). Now, it is clear that although most signs point to a free presentation of Immortals this year, its role in speculation leading to the event has been filled.
I must have missed it, because for WrestleMania 34 [ the rough work around John Cena's place at the Show of Shows was intimately tied to Taker himself. But this year, Cena has everything you need to party.
We all thought, and many still think, that he would eventually replace Baron Corbin as Kurt Angle's last opponent. Cena himself threw gasoline on this fire, as only he can do. But rumors still say that WWE really does Corbin / Angle at MetLife Stadium in a week from tomorrow. And despite the fact that its status is not known to society, the reports continue to point the finger at the 16-time WWE champion.
But what? Shortly after Wrestling Observer announced an agreement on a Cena match at WrestleMania 35 Dave Meltzer told the latest Wrestling Observer radio that the face used to direct The Place had accepted The match will take place on April 7th. But it will not be Angle, and despite some teasing before losing the title of the United States, it will not be R-Truth either.
The American champion, Samoa Joe, should face Rey Mysterio, and adding Cena to this fight probably does not make much sense (unless Andrade removes Rey and Samoa Joe launches an open challenge and … I'm just book fantasy and I will shut up now). Meltzer also says it will not be a revenge for Taker's defeat last year – because the Phenom is not expected at all for the series.
So who? Meltzer speculates about Lars Sullivan, but when he destroys the idea of the truth, he says it would be "much bigger" than a match against Carmella's boyfriend, and a guy who never figured on the main list does not read "much bigger" than anyone else.
I guess we will have to keep speculating. Just as we did with Undertaker.
