After expressing his desire to join the franchise WWE Fast and Furious Wrestler John Cena was officially added to the cast of the ninth installment of the popular action movie franchise.

The details of his role are kept secret, but Universal Pictures revealed that he would play "a tough guy". Cena also took on Twitter to share the news with the fans.

He writes, "For nearly 20 years, Fast Franchise has entertained fans and created some of the greatest cinematic moments in history. It is an incredible honor to join this franchise and this family. "

Cena joined a cast of stars that should see Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris and Nathalie Emmanuel resume their roles from previous episodes.

However, the film could disappoint fans of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. According to numerous media reports, Johnson may not return to the franchise, leaving the responsibility of his fellow WWE star.

The film's release is scheduled for May 22, 2020, while production will begin later this month. Although The Rock's involvement in Fast and Furious 9 has not yet been confirmed, it will soon be seen in Hobbs & Shaw due to be released on August 2nd.
