After successfully transitioning from fight to action through action movies and comedy, John Cena is now the target of several films. And he is seriously considering joining the growing cast of The Suicide Squad .
According to Variety Cena is in discussion to play alongside Margot Robbie, Viola Davis and Jai Courtney, as well as their newcomer Idris Elba for screenwriter / director James Gunn. The latter is walking an interesting tightrope with this one, as the film serves as a follow-up to the Suicide Squad of 2016, while redefining the idea that Warner Bros. hopes to better land with his fans. The Suicide Squad let us not forget, was the subject of mixed reviews to negative, but still achieved more than 746 million dollars in the world and won an Oscar.
Little is known about Gunn's content, but he plans to begin filming this fall before the release of August 6, 2021. Cena, we will see in the action film Jackie Chan project X-Traction (which has not yet set release date here), as well as in comedy Plying With Fire a voice for The Voyage Of Doctor Dolittle who is currently the subject of new shots but whose goal is to arrive next January.
