Warner Bros. presents the first trailer of the upcoming Joker movie, starring Joaquin Phoenix as the famous villain Batman, a day after his premiere at the CinemaCon event in Las Vegas. "I thought my life was a tragedy, but it's a comedy," says Arthur Fleck in the trailer.
As announced, the film owes much to the taxi director, taxi driver Martin Scorsese. Arthur is an outcast living in the 70s, Gotham, inspired by New York, mocked by others, with only his mother for company. the trailer that suggests an uncomfortable relationship between Arthur and his mother, played in Frances Conroy's film. It has already been reported that the role was offered to Frances McDormand. There are recurring plans of Arthur lying on the floor, dancing on the stairs, and others who show off his grotesque physical appearance.
We see Arthur regularly harbaded, beaten and left to fend for himself in a "changing" Gotham. There are also quick nods to Batman (maybe?) And to Arkham Asylum. We also see a glimpse of his descent into madness, with brief plans from Arthur applying green hair dye and make-up on his face. The film does not seem to be based on the origin of the character, but rather as a fusion of several scenarios.
Joker was made by an unusual choice for the material – The Hangover's Todd Phillips. Phillips called the film "tragedy" at CinemaCon. "But that's what happens when you decide to tell the origin of a character who has no origin," he said.
The film should be released in October. The film also features Scorsese favorites Robert De Niro and Zazie Beetz. The Joker has already been featured in a film by Academy Award winners Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger and Jared Leto.
