As a result of racist and homophobic comments, a star of Fox's "Empire" was brutally attacked Tuesday morning in Chicago.
At around 2 am, 36-year-old actor Jussie Smollett was walking in block 300 E. E. Lower Water Street when two men badaulted him after shouting racist remarks and homophobic. During the badault, the men pbaded a noose around the actor 's neck and poured him a chemical, the police said in a statement Tuesday.
The Chicago Police Department stated that he was taking the case "very seriously" and that he was investigating as a hate.
According to TMZ the two badailants were both "white men and ski masks" and, among other things, derogatory remarks. "This is the country of MAGA," it was shouted. Several media also reported that Smollett had received racist and homophobic hate mail before the attack.
