The film's producer, Kamal Jain, had recently sided with Kangana in the quarrel, claiming that the decision of the demote had been taken by him and the studio.
Manikarnika received positive reviews, although some criticized the way in which the secondary characters were portrayed. The film made more crore of 60 rupees at the box office.
