Kangana Ranaut, charismatic, is the star of Manikarnika action

Kangana Ranaut has the charisma of winning the deified role of "Jhansi Ki Rani" on the screen. Ranaut, principal woman and co-director, deserves applause to breathe life and humanity into the historical character she plays. Manikarnika would certainly qualify among these rare gems of the screen with a female protagonist who is an action movie, and Ranaut, achieves this feat with flying colors. However, screenwriter K.V. Vijayendra Prasad misses the golden opportunity to tell a memorable story with scenes that transcend the flow of historical events. The emotional charge of key scenes is mainly composed of a single note and is not nuanced enough to get them to reach their dramatic potential. Here is our video review of the movie.
