– Kevin Owens said Kofi Kingston had not played any games at WrestleMania since it was his match since Elimination Chamber. Owens, who faces Kingston this weekend at Money in the Bank for the WWE Championship, has spoken with the State of Combat podcast and has discussed the idea that Kofi's rise took away the somebody else 's match that had been announced for the WWE Championship occasion.
"I do not think Kofi interfered with anyone in fact because it was clearly Kofi's match," said Owens (by Fightful). "If you just paid attention to what was happening [in] in every arena, every SmackDown Live from the moment he entered that difficult match, in front of the WrestleMania Elimination Chamber. For me, it was obvious from that moment that it was Kofi's match. So even though it may have changed the plans of the players, I would not say that he embarrbaded anyone, because he really did – all he did, that was 39 is being himself and being Kofi Kingston and that's what made him come because the fans decided to support him more than anyone else.
Owens continued, "The only problem is that now that he has his moment, everyone wants a moment. I am not different. He has children, he has his wife, they have had a good time, wonderful. Now, I want to have this moment. I do not care about Kofi Kingston's family as much as mine. It may be a terrible thing to say, but it's the truth. They are great people. I met them. They are nice, they are great, but now I want the moment for my children and my wife. So now, Kofi Kingston is on the way. He was not before, now he is. I will do my best to get him out of my way. "
