This year, LG is offering AV enthusiasts a Christmas present by announcing its next-generation image processor well before CES 2019.
The processor, which bears the name Alpha A9 (Gen. 2), is touting a four-step noise reduction algorithm similar to that of this year's OLED range, an improved color correction algorithm, and a high frame rate (HFR) support to 120 fps.
It should be noted that while HFR was available on the Alpha 9 processor, its content was only available via a USB port, as LG has not yet adopted the HDMI 2.1 standard. However, this could change in 2019.
According to a blog post posted on LG's website, the Alpha A9 (Gen 2) will power at least part of LG's OLED 2019 lineup – the LG C9 still unconfirmed, Models E9, G9 and W9 OLED. If the composition of next year is identical to that of this year, the entry-level OLED 2019 will likely use this year's processor instead of the Alpha A9's. 39 next year.
True, much of what the Alpha L & # 39; A9 (Gen. 2) can do, but also this year's Alpha A9 . And while this may mean that LG is running out of space to improve image quality from the point of view of processing, it probably means that the company is recording some key details of CPU capabilities up to CES. 2019.
