A few minutes before the book's launch in a quaint cafe in Mumbai, she said, "You'll notice that many of these projects took place after cancer. It's almost as if I've found a new lease in life. Cancer has removed this aspect of self-awareness, fear and many inner obstacles that I had before. When you are struggling with your mortality, you begin to see your insecurities in a different light.

Working with Rahman in 99 Songs she said, "It's a great honor. He even reached out unexpectedly. What is wonderful is that we have a common history. AR composed the jingle for the Garden Saree commercials (in which she appeared in the 90s) and he performed some of the most beautiful songs of Water (his 2005 film Deepa Mehta). We had this type of professional crossroads at very important times. I've always been a big fan of his work. Working with him in a narrower and more substantial way was the culmination of his dream. However, it is not easy to reconcile work and education of young children. Last year, Lisa announced the birth of her twin daughters – Sufi and Sun – that she had had through surrogacy. The 47-year-old is grateful to her friends who, she says, are mobilizing to help her maintain work-life balance. "I have an amazing support group of girlfriends. Right now, my babies are staying with one of them. My babies went from house to house. My husband and I recently moved. We are back in Bombay and the main reason is the support I get emotionally, practically and in all ways as a mother in India. I do not think I would live that elsewhere, "said Lisa.

"There is inner strength, stubbornness and resilience in all of us. We must have faith to have it. I am not special and I do not think that the treatment I received was special. Today, my treatment is in India. We receive the same treatment in India as I received in Canada, "she said.

"There are struggles of course, sometimes financial, but now in India we have a growing ecosystem of great NGOs and outreach programs that will help you. I think it's the fear we have to overcome. The fear is not real, it is a fleeting cloud that pbades in the sky and you are the sky, which is limitless. Just make sure that you do not identify with fear, as this will prevent you from asking for help and taking the measures that you need, "she added.

However, even though she advocates for a long and healthy life, Lisa says that it is important that we all accept the certainty of death – a precious lesson in life that can come only from someone One who has seen death close at hand. "We all have a natural expiration date. We will not all live forever. Death is inevitable. We should therefore, at one moment of life, reflect and contemplate death. I have used a lot of Tibetan Buddhist practices to do it and that has reinforced me.

"I do not say that I want to die or that I'm not afraid of it, but I know how to negotiate. He does not cast such a shadow on me today. I know and hope that because I have considered it and that I have repeated it to a certain point, I will know that when the curtain will close, it would be time to move on to something else, "she said.
