Kolkata : A low intensity earthquake, measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale , shook Bankura district in West Bengal on Sunday, the meteorological department said here that 10:39 am in the morning.

No officials have been reported so far, said a manager.

The epicenter of the quake was 10 km below the surface of the Earth, at latitude 23.3 km. degrees north and 86.9 degrees east longitude.
