Luka Chuppi headlined by Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon, has become a bona fide hit at the box office. The romantic comedy witnessed excellent growth on its second Saturday as it minted Rs 5.20 crore to reach a total of Rs 62.05 crore after a nine-day run in cinemas. Keeping in view the current trend, one can expect the film to collect Rs 75 crore in its lifetime.
Movie critic and business badyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office of Luka Chuppi on Twitter on Sunday . Mr Adarsh wrote, "#LukaChuppi has struck a chord with the youth … Biz on [second] Sat witnesses super growth … Crosses ₹ 60 cr … Eyes ₹ 75 cr … [Week 2] Fri 3.15 cr, Sat 5.20 cr. Total: ₹ 62.05 cr. Luka Chuppi written by Rohan Shankar, marks the directorial debut of well-known cinematographer Laxman Utekar. The film, in a light-hearted manner, deals with the concept of live-in-relationships in India, a nation that is stuck between conservatism and modernism.
While the film failed to impress movie critics, the audience lapped it up. In fact, it is because of the fairly strong word of mouth. As Mr Adarsh commented on his tweet, it struck a chord with the youth of the country.
Luka Chuppi Released alongside Abhishek Chaubey's Sonchiriya on March 1 and faced negligible competition from the latter. Total Dhamaal and Gully Boy which hit the screens in preliminary weeks, affected its business to a certain degree, however.
