Madhu Mantena produces an adaptation of the epic Ramayana, whose budget is estimated at 600 crores. The project is in the writing phase for a year.
The news comes while a separate project, a big budget web series, is being produced on the Mahabharata. Recent reports suggest that Aamir Khan is related to Krishna.
Mantena had previously stated that his vision was inspired by the work of the life of Ananth Pai (Uncle Pai) of the famous cartoon Amar Chitra Katha.

The film will be shot in 3D and will be published in series in three parts, then in Hindi. , Tamil and Telugu.
Ramayana is supported by a triumvirate of film producers, Allu Aravind, Namit Malhotra and Madhu Mantena, who collaborated for the first time on India's most ambitious project. The most expensive film of Bollywood is Thugs of Hindostan, realized with a budget exceeding 300 crore. Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar's recent hit movie, 2.0, would be the most expensive Indian film ever made. It was produced with an estimated budget of nearly 550,000 crores of rupees.
Mantena was previously a member of the now-defunct Phantom Films group, with directors Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane and Vikas Bahl. The company announced its dissolution a few hours before the allegations of badual harbadment against Bahl.
