Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu is preparing for the release of Maharshi on May 9 for an interaction before the release of Vamshi director Paidipally. Here are excerpts:
Q. What about Maharshi who convinced you to be part of it?
I was blown away by Vamshi's 40-minute story. I told him that I had two films to finish and that I could not work on Maharshi until after. But Vamshi said that he would wait. He said, "No one but you can play Maharshi." So, hat to his sentence.
Q. It seems that you are attracted to movies containing social messages, like Srimanthudu and Bharat Ane Nenu. Is Maharshi in the same sense?
It's not like that. I am very grateful to the directors for writing such stories for me. I am very happy and proud to be badociated with such films. At the same time, Maharshi also has a very powerful argument to make, but I do not want to dispel the public's enthusiasm. You'll have to watch it on May 9 to find out more.
Q. Did you tell the story of Maharshi?
I think Maharshi can be told to everyone. It is the beauty of an emotional scenario.
Q. How did he work with Vamshi Paidipally?
Vamshi has a lot of clarity. He directed the film exactly how he told me the story. While realizing, he clearly communicated to the actors what he expects from the scene. So, I think he's done a fantastic job. He and his team will be the first to receive compliments after the release of the film.
Q. Recently, at an event, you thanked the directors who made you who you are. However, you missed a few names.
It was my mistake. I have to thank the director Puri Jagannadh because his Pokiri made me a superstar.
I must thank Sukumar for his director 1 – Nenokkadine. The film is a cult movie in my career. Plus, it gave me the opportunity to work with my son Gautham.
After my speech, some journalists wrote that I had taken to digging in Sukumar while addressing myself to the directors. In my speech, I enjoyed Vamshi, but that does not mean that I degraded Sukumar. This is one of my privileged friends and we will work together in the future.
Q. Do you see your path in terms of success and failure?
It is not based on successes or failures. In my speech, I talked about important movies in my career. Murari is a crucial film because he proved that I could play. Okkadu has made a star and Athadu has opened the US market. Pokiri made me a superstar. As an actor, I mentioned some important films, but that does not mean that I only thanked the directors who gave me the success.
Q. What is the most memorable moment of your trip up to now?
I used to watch the first series of all my movies with my father (Superstar Krishna). I remember that after watching Murari, my father had put his hand on my shoulder without saying anything. I think it's the most memorable moment for me. I do not think I can describe this moment with words.
Also, I think he will love Maharshi. I can not wait until he looks at it.
Q. Three Maharshi producers had their greatest successes on May 9th.
May 9 is a magical date and the date is badociated with many great hits. I can say that Maharshi will also be a blockbuster. I believe that even my fans want all my future outings from May.
Q. You were supposed to make a movie with Sukumar. The plan is on? Are there still creative differences between you two?
There are no creative differences. We thought about a film together, but at that time I thought working on Anil Ravipudi would be a good thing. My previous outings were social and intense projects. So, I wanted to make a full-fledged artist like Dookudu. In addition, I thought it would be refreshing for me too. I have expressed the same thing to Sukumar. We both decided to work together once our respective projects were completed.
Q. Tell us about your films with directors SS Rajamouli and Trivikram?
SS Rajamouli and I decided to work on a project with KL Narayana as a producer. We have already discussed the project. Once we have completed our previous commitments, we will go forward. I've also had discussions with director Trivikram and even that sounds positive.
