Sixty-five percent of men would like to plan their first date on Valentine's Day, compared with only 50% of women, according to a survey conducted by an international dating service.
To understand the trends around Valentine's Day, OkCupid conducted a survey to find out if and how men and women celebrate Valentine's Day. The questions were introduced to match people according to the type of romance that they wish in their life.
The results of the application were surprising: men are more likely to engage in Valentine's Day celebrations and are more open to the idea of romance than women. Not only that, 77% of men think that they are the most romantic person they know. This figure for women was 65%.
Although the majority of respondents (58% of men and 53% of women) agree, 40% of women and 33% of men want their partner to do something special on Saint's Day -Valentin.
The survey also surveyed respondents on the idea of a Valentine's Day getaway. While 53% of men and 47% of women would choose a camping holiday and would love to plan a romantic three-day weekend with their greatest companion around Valentine's Day, only 23% of men and 17% of women would like to spend time relaxing in a posh hotel.
Almost as many men and women said that they would give the relationship a second chance. Forty-eight percent of men believe in second chance for dating relationships and feel it can work at another time or place. Women find it a bit more convenient, with 47% of them saying it totally depends on the relationship, the survey revealed.
