After 1:30 pm, the government of Odisha declared a holiday in the United States after the opening ceremony of the men's hockey World Cup.
All banks, financial institutions, government offices, and educational institutions were asked to remain closed for the ceremony.
Most of the 16 teams reached Bhubaneswar and will play in four pools from November 28th to December 16th. The Kalinga stadium, where the colorful program and the matches will be played, is ready with the flags of the participants.

The dance drama created, written and directed by Nupur Mahajan will have Madhuri in the film The role of Mother Earth
Shah Rukh Khan, well known in the hockey community for his support of the game, will arrive in Mumbai on Tuesday and will leave for Mumbai immediately after the show, he said.
Sabyasachi Mishra and Archita Sahu will also perform at the opening night.
"Bollywood superstar Salman Khan confirmed his participation in the second inaugural ceremony at Cuttack on Wednesday," added Dev.

Sharma stated that traffic movements would be restricted during the Hockey World Cup.
Regarding the deployment of the police for the mega event, he has 50 senior police officers at the rank of deputy police superintendent in various oversight roles. There will be inspectors, sub-inspectors and badistant sub-inspectors.
"In total, we have deployed more than 300 police officers, and up to 75 platoons (a platoon of 30 people) will be on duty," he added.
