MNS does not allow screening of Modi biopic in Maharashtra, says it violates code of conduct

Khopkar said the main grievance against the film was that the BJP government was using the film to circumvent the code of conduct during the elections by showing the film.

"They deliberately try to show that famous personalities, including celebrities, contributed to the making of this film. We are against this dirty game we play. Everyone must follow the code of conduct for elections. However, if the BJP government puts it underfoot, the MNS will take steps to prevent it, "said Khopkar.

This happens even if there are questions about whether this would challenge Lok Sabha's polls. He was trying to get some seats in the alliance with Congress and the NCP, but the first one opposed it. MNS chief Raj Thackeray has been fiercely opposed to the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the past two years.

The MNS leader also alleged that during the run-up to the elections, the government could "do more attacks similar to those of the pulwama."
