The handsome actor recently shot for the latest episode of the popular daily. In an exclusive conversation with Timesofindia.com, Nakuul explained his role, his journey as Shivaay Singh Oberoi, his chemistry with co-star Surbhi Chandna and his fatherhood.
On his trip to Ishqbaaz?
Too many takeaways and too many memories. But the only thing left with many people is asking me that her show was so successful and it was good for so many people who worked on it. The way I judge a success or a failure is the effort. I can say this with regard to the behavior of all the people who worked here, that we put our 100% and 110% and the days we did 95%. we did terrible about it. One thing I am proud of is that we gave everything and did our best. This is what I retain from the series and put the same spirit in everything I do in life.
On his chemistry with the main woman Surbhi Chandna?
It's so funny, I had a conversation with her yesterday about the same thing. In fact, while we were working together, we had never realized what really worked with our couple. And I think it's good that we never did, because we never tried to badyze it. There was something magical and very beautiful. We are discussing it, we will miss both. She has been a wonderful co-actress with whom to work. Working with her has been wonderful and I can not describe what it was. I think it was great.
After seven years of television career, Pyaar Ka Dard Hai and Ishqbaaz?
It has been 7 years since I was on television and I have the impression that we started yesterday. Pyaar Ka Dard Hai ran 663 episodes, made me a householder, allowed me to travel the world, I loved so much from people and I learned a lot too. The industry took notice of me and if this show had not worked, Ishqbaaz would not have occurred. After PKDH, I took a little time to invest in myself and build myself as an artist, then I came back. I am just grateful to continue to have such opportunities, I am sure that there are other artists equally talented, but I was lucky to be in the place. Every episode and every day that I shot, I gave the best of myself and that's why I'm really proud.
Nakuul talks about experimenting different roles?
In Ishqbaaz, I have a lot of experience. I was the bad guy, good guy, my own brother and my dad. I've played several roles, but I'd like to experiment more because it's time for us all to grow as an artist. I do not know what and how, but I would like to try new things and not repeat myself.
On his wife Jankee Parekh's relationship
The good thing is that we got to know each other before I became a recognized face across the country or that she became established with her group. We met at a time when I wanted to become an actor and she even wanted to know how to explore, it was desires in our head. We literally grew up and wanted to find our travels. I'm glad we could find it and, even though we found it, we did not get lost. We helped each other grow. Nothing gives her more happiness in seeing me do good and nothing gives more happiness to see her excel in her work. She has a group of 10 boys now and she is the diva in charge and seeing her entertain a crowd of 5 people for 2 to 3 hours is just magical.
On the search for a harmony between love and career?
This has been an excellent partnership and it has a lot of merit to respect my schedules. When you work on television, you do not have the time. I think the last three years I have not given him enough time and I have spent more time with the actors and the team here. It's time to pay back and spend time with her.
Nakuul Mehta opens on fatherhood?
