Your career seems to have taken a complete turn after Badhaai Ho?
I feel happy and a little worried because after all this, I can not do anything anymore. I just want to grow up now, so I'm expecting good and better work, and it's a bit frustrating.
You have already won two awards this season. How do you go about it?
It's good to attend shows. The last time I was busy with rewards, it was at the time of the Saans. Of course, I have never received a prize for my films because I have never had a role. I had a lot of "sidey", small roles in movies. I was just there in the movies but I had nothing to play. So, yes, I appreciate it right away.
How do you feel to be nominated alongside young actresses such as Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt?
Alia is like my child. Of course, it's a strange feeling. But there is always a taboo on actresses. Men of my age can still play the hero, but I will not understand it so easily. A little earlier, I thought that we should not publish personal photos. I am always very shy and not very active and I make mistakes. And because of that, I had to suffer a lot in my professional life. I have the impression that it helps me to change that and that I had to change that.
What kind of image are you referring to?
"Well that of a strong and daring woman who does things according to what she wants to do. And a strong woman means a negative woman in our movies. I had all the negative roles as a dominant woman in the household, but I told them that I wanted a female bechari role.
