Neeraj Chopra wins gold at the athletics competition in Sotteville

The star javelin thrower, Neeraj Chopra, takes his gold medal to five by taking first place on the podium at the Sotteville Athletics meet in France. Chopra, won the gold medal after his fifth attempt was measured at 85.17m.

The 20-year-old athlete surpbaded the other competitors with a lead of 3.69m from his nearest competition.

Moldovan Andrian Mardare (81.48m) and Lithuanian Edis Matusevicius (79.31m) were second and third respectively.

2012 Olympic champion Keshor Walcott ranks fifth with a best score of 78.26m.

Chopra who won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games earlier this year in Australia, breaking the national record with an 87.43m effort, becoming the first Indian to win a CWG gold in the javelin throw. He also holds the junior world javelin record with a staggering 86.48m attempt.
