Hundreds of people attended a vigil on Tuesday night for a New York teenager, would have been hacked to death by gang members. A new surveillance video shows Lesandro Guzman-Feliz, 15, who is trying to hide behind a deli counter before the attack. When he comes back, he bleeds and seems to have been ordered to leave.
According to the NYPD, the deli employees called 911 for help and the police made a new arrest in the Guzman-Feliz case. They seek the help of the public to hunt down members of Trinitarios gangs, because the violence still has a lot of fear in this community.
Brianna Gaskin, 15, was friends with Guzman-Feliz. His badbadination has shaken his sense of security in the Bronx.
"When I saw these videos, I was speechless, I started crying and crying," she said. "It's just scary, it's really scary to go out and know you're not safe in your community."
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio was among the many participants at a memorial Tuesday night outside the funeral home for Guzman-Feliz. Many in the community want the authorities to take more action against gang violence.
"I have grandchildren and it's really sad, it's really sad that it took a tragedy to bring a community together," said one woman.
The NYPD is trying to calm those fears. Police say eight suspected gang members have been charged so far and more arrests are planned. The six men picked up in New Jersey will be brought back to New York on Wednesday after agitating the extradition.
To help locate other gang members who were involved in the murder of Guzman-Feliz, the police posted a new video showing a 14-year-old boy beaten and stabbed by more than a dozen young people men in the middle of the Bronx promenade in daylight. Many of the attackers are believed to be Trinitarios. Police have arrested a man who would be involved in this attack and hope the community will identify more.
"We will not tolerate thugs in the streets of the Bronx, be it Trinitarios or any other gang involved in such behavior," said Detective Chief Dermot Shea.
The NYPD stated that the information they received from the community through advice, phone calls and online were invaluable for the arrests they made up to the time. ;now. Police also say that there seems to be some connection between the Guzman-Feliz attack and the teenager's attack on the highway.
