Malayalam cinema needs a shot to revitalize the market and multiply in theaters. The last blow was the superproduction of Fahadh Faasil Njan Prakashan, published on Christmas. The state government of Kerala, after witnessing the success of a few Malayalam films last year, introduced a new 10% additional tax on bodily entertainment in the state budget, still weighing down the industry.

7 February news releases. A confrontation between stars is planned between the science-fiction thriller of Prithviraj Sukumaran Nine and Kumblangi evenings of Fahadh Faasil taking place in a fishing village. Both films are expected to deliver at the box office and boost trade. The hero's wife becomes a producer in both films.

The film Nine by Prithviraj is directed by Jenuse Mohamad (son of veteran director Kamal). Jenuse's first film as director, 100 Days Of Love with Dulquer Salmaan, was appreciated. Fahadh Faasil Kumblangi Nights A realistic film set in a fishing village and is said to be a satire. The film is directed by beginner Madhu Narayanan and is scripted by Syam Pushkaran. Madhu was a partner of the actor and director Dileesh Pothan (of Maheshinte Prathikaram and of Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum- of fame), who became a producer with the wife and the actress Faasil Nazriya Nazim. Kumblangi's Nights brings together a formidable cast of young rising stars of Malayalam cinema to Soubin Shahir, Shane Nigam and Sreenath Bhasi, who play the brothers in the film, with the new girl Anna Ben. The movie trailer, with its fun touch and Fahadh playing the antagonist, created a good buzz for the movie.

Nine made better promotions, Prithviraj giving interviews to the right and center, while Fahadh, as usual, gave no prior interview to the publication of Kumblangi Nights . According to Trade, Kumblangi's nights will have a good opening, especially at a time when Faasil is surfing on a wave. His last two editions, Varathan and Njaan Prakashan, were resounding successes ringing the cash register. On the contrary, Prithviraj had a bad time since his last publication Ranam was a failure.

Sony Pictures makes an incursion into Malayalam and distributes Nine to Kerala, while ] Kumblangi Nights is distributed by one of the oldest distribution companies of Kerala Century Films. This is going to be a royal battle at the Kerala box office this weekend between two young guns – Prithviraj and Fahadh – as well as the biopic of former veteran Mammootty on Telugu politician YSR Reddy , Yatra nicknamed in Malayalam, also joining the party.
