Oscars 2019: Black Panther, winner of best film, Lady Gaga, best actress, according to poll | Hollywood

Before Sunday's 91st Oscars, HT organized an Oscar poll for its readers. We asked moviegoers to vote for their favorite films in the first six categories: best film, best director, best lead actor, best lead actress, best secondary actor and best secondary actress. Here are the results of the polls:

Best Picture: Black Panther

Black Panther is imposed as the undisputed winner of the Best Film category. Ryan Coogler's superhero film garnered 47% of the vote, followed by Bohemian Rhapsody by Bryan Singer with 14%. Alfonso Cuarón's Roma was closely followed by all the prizes preceding the Oscars.

Black Panther is the first superhero movie to be nominated in the Best Film category . If the film ends up winning the grand prize, it will be a feat for Marvel.

Best Actress in a Leading Role: Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga seems to have won everyone's heart with her very first film. She got 38% of the votes for her performance as an ally in A Star Is Born. Glenn Close followed her for her performance in The Wife with 25%. Yalitza Aparicio, another actress for the first time, ranked third.

Gaga recently won several Grammy Awards for his song Shallow, from the movie. She will also perform the hit song at the Oscars. After winning the Critics' Choice Movie Award for best actress, Gaga could not win any other awards for her work in the film.

Best Leading Actor: Rami Malek

Rami Malek is the first choice of HT players in the Best Actor category. For her portrayal of Queen Freddie Mercury's lead singer, Rami earned 37% of the vote. Bradley Cooper followed him closely for playing Jackson Maine in his own director, A Star is Born. Cooper got 30% of the votes.

Rami is also the favorite at the Oscars. Until now, he has won the Golden Globe Awards, SAG Awards, Baftas and others for his work in the film. While the film was criticized by the critics, the public made it a multi-million dollar success.

Best Director: Alfonso Cuaron

Mexican director Alfonso Cuaron is nominated for the Roma group.

The Roma director Alfonso Cuaron also seems to be the choice of HT readers. He received 46% of the votes for his semi-autobiographical black and white film. He is followed by Adam McKay for Vice with 15% of the votes and by Yorgos Lanthimos for the drama The Favorite with 14% of the votes.

Roma is the first Netlfix movie to be nominated in the Best Film category. This is one of Cuaron's best works, which also includes films like Gravity and Children of Men.

Best Actress in a Supporting Role: Emma Stone

Emma Stone once again emerged as HT's favorite to win Best Supporting Actress for her work in The Favorite. She received 40% of the votes and was followed by Amy Adams for Vice with 21% of the votes. Stone co-star Rachel Weisz took third place with 19% of the vote.

In The Favorite, Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone play the role of rival royal cousins, in a costumed drama by director Yorgos Lanthimos. He goes to India on March 1st.

Best Supporting Actor: Mahershala Ali

Mahershala Ali appears as the favorite of the best supporting actor for his work in Green Book. He got 40% of the votes and was followed by Sam Elliot with 28% of the votes for his work in A Star Is Born.

Mahershala also won the Best Supporting Actress Award in 2017 for his work in Moonlight. In Green Book, he plays the talented pianist Don Shirley and could become the second black actor after Denzel Washington to win more than one Oscar for his performance.

Who will eventually become? We will know Sunday (Monday morning in India) when the ceremony will take place.
