And that's for another year. What a strange, huh? On the negative side, some less than wonderful films have gone under the wire. On the plus side, at least that was pretty short. The Guardian did not win, but Olivia Colman did, which allowed at least one beloved institution to do so. there was no host or clear favorite so that an audience could band together. But for the moment, it does not matter. The important thing is that we were here. We did it! Now, for the sake of God, let's all sleep.

This is a strange choice for a better picture victory. But that ends with a mute cut in the middle of the speech, so that's at least we still have some of this characteristic fantasy of Oscar.

A shock also, although slightly less charming than that of the best actress.

ALFONSO CUARÓN WINS THE BEST DIRECTOR OF ROMA.
His third speech of the night, and surely he has no one else to thank. Surely.
And yet, no. The actors, the teams, the producers, the studio, Netflix and literally the people he is watching are all thanked. He then reads a speech defending domestic workers. He ends the speech in Spanish. Maybe it's a Colman Hangover, or maybe I'm fed up, but I found it very moving.
