Akshay Kumar, Bollywood actor, who played a pivotal role in discussions on menstrual hygiene with his film "PadMan" has just joined with Run4Niine for a national event to raise awareness to menstrual hygiene. The actor added that he was delighted to join the Niine Movement to encourage open and unashamed discussion on menstruation with his "fellow citizens, battle heroes, change makers and revolutionaries" . The event will be held on March 8 in several cities of more than 20 Indian states, on the occasion of International Women's Day. Akshay Kumar will be in Lucknow. The campaign aims to bridge the gap between the users of sanitary napkins from 18% to 82%. Event organizers hope to set the Guinness world record with the "Most One-Day Races for Menstrual Hygiene Awareness" with the event.
