Newsnight is excused for showing footage of Pakistani bowler Wasim Akram in the place of his former teammate turned politician Imran Khan. The flagship information program of the BBC2 began with a piece documenting Khan's journey from a cricketing hero to a potential prime minister. They showed a clip of the former Pakistani captain of the Wasim Akram cricket and cricket team instead of Imran, but by the time the news channel realized their mistake and removed the tweet, screenshots have flooded Twitter. The blunder has been criticized by many Pakistanis for their ignorance.

Note, the two men are icons of Pakistan cricket. Imran after his retirement from cricket ventured into the politics of the countries and soon we could see him becoming the country's new prime minister. Khan is famous for leading his cricket team to victory at the 1992 World Cup, Pakistan's first and only victory in this competition. Meanwhile, Akram has been in the sport since his retirement and spends much of his time commenting on the game.
