Actress Pooja Batra put an end to all speculation regarding her marriage to Nawab Shah and confirmed that the two men had really tied the knot on July 4 in Delhi. Pooja told Bombay Times in an interview that it was a private affair with only their families present.
"Nawab and I exchanged greetings in Delhi, with only our families present. Our relatives asked us why we are delaying (marriage). I was just going with the flow, but then I realized that he was the man with whom I want to spend the rest of my life and that there is no point in delay it further. So we are here. We had a wedding in Arya Samaj and we are going to register our wedding this week, "she said.
The news of the secret wedding of Pooja and Nawab was revealed after they shared photos on Instagram where we can see Pooja wearing a chooda – traditional bracelets worn by newly married women.
About her husband, she said: "We have woven strong ties after being reintroduced by a common friend in February of this year, I guess we reconnected at the right time in our lives, we were in the same emotional space and we started to work instantly … We share emotional compatibility and intellectual and we do not have to explain ourselves very much to each other.I like the fact that he is a member of the family. "
She revealed that it was Nawab who had suggested to him: " He was ready to offer me shortly after our meeting. Finally, he proposed me to Delhi, then again when he came to meet my parents with his family.
Pooja's first marriage with a US-based doctor ended with a divorce. It was not a happy marriage and she said in the interview: "Everyone is going through phases. I have survived one of the most difficult because I was alone in a foreign country. But then, that's life, is not it? You learn as you grow up and your mentality also changes over time. "
This is the first time that Pooja talks about his relationship with Nawab. However, both often share love photos on Instagram. In June of this year, the two shared the same photo to formalize their relationship. Pooja wrote, "Life is a feast when you are with your soul mate," while Nawab wrote "Happiness." The picture was of Pooja back to the camera while a man was holding out his outstretched hand.
Pooja, a former Miss India, has worked in such films as Viraasat, Haseena Maan Jayegi and Nayak: The real Nawab hero was last seen in Tiger Zinda Hai.
