Under the CLSS, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs of the Union grants beneficiaries a grant of up to 2.67 lakh. The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) has four components: CLSS, In Situ Slum Redevelopment (ISSR), Affordable Housing Partnership (AHP) and Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC). In this context, the government provides central badistance to beneficiaries for the construction of their own homes.

According to the secretary of the ministry, BLC is at the top of the ranking with 56% of the popularity of the recipients of PMAY (U), followed by AHP with 33%, ISSR with 7% and CLSS with 4%.
