Raghava Lawrence's horror film has the same clichés that have worked for its predecessors – Entertainment News, Firstpost

Raghava Lawrence was Rajinikanth's favorite choreographer in the late '90s, before becoming an actor and director of mbad commercials. Lawrence is "the moving spirit" behind the biggest horror franchise in South India, Kanchana. It is structured around his 2007 film Muni . Four years after Kanchana 2, who brought in more than 100 billion rupees of national and international plays, Lawrence is back with Kanchana 3 (also called Muni 4 ) in Tamil and Telugu.

Kanchana 3: the horror film Raghava Lawrences takes the same clichés as those used by his predecessors

Lawrence is, in a way, the father Horror comedy, the most popular genre of Kollywood that works well with a mbad audience. He follows the model of a horror specialist of the 1970s and '80s, Vitalacharya, who ran the box office. Kanchana 3 is a horror comedy model inspired by Lawrence and addressed largely to a family audience. Yes, Lawrence's Kanchana series has a huge fan base among women and children. These movies even have a U / A certificate despite the horror and violence.

The story is virtually the same in all the movies in the series. He tells how the hero Raghava (Lawrence), a friendly neighborhood guy who plays with children, is scared of ghost stories. He needs his mother (Kovai Sarala) by his side most of the time to deal with all the appalling situations that he encounters. Once again, Raghava is possessed (as in the first two parts) by a "ghost" who uses his body to take revenge on the wicked. The regular comic strip actors, who play his mother, his older brother (Sreeman) and his sister-in-law (Devadarshini), are present, accompanied by three glamorous skinny girls (Vedhika, Oviya and Nikita),

Lawrence plays the dual role of the gentle Raghava, who is afraid of ghosts, and Kaali, a tough guy who is a philanthropist and runs an orphanage (in real life, Lawrence is known for his philanthropic activities, including managing a orphanage for children). Kaali clashes with a minister and his brother (Kabir Duhan Singh), who want to use the ashram to launder their black money. When he protests, all hell is unleashed.

In the nearly three-hour film, everything is noisy (music that tears the eardrum), exaggerated and plays heavily in the gallery. There are also crude jokes and gadgets with three girls doing their best to woo the hero. Add to that squeaky doors, rocking chairs, scenes of exorcism (including Russian exorcists!), Rituals to ward off evil and characters being caught in a fun way. More obligatory feelings "Amma" and a so-called social message. There are also some songs (composed by different directors of music) and scenes of deadly fighting culminating to complete the formula

Critics can go for a walk, as evidenced by the reaction of the public (mostly families) to Kanchana 3 at the theater where I watched the film. Whistles and applause were heard when Lawrence and his screen mother Kovai Sarala shot down the house with their antics. Kaali's sentence to the character is aptly summarized: " Nee Mbad aana, naan double mbad!" (If you are mbad, I am double). The only question left is whether Kanchana 3 will also join the club of 100 Rs 100 crore.
