Taking advantage of the glory of his hit movie, Petta, superstar Rajinikanth is set to start filming for his next upcoming project with director AR Murugadoss by the end of March. Reliable sources suggest that Rajinikanth has given a 90 day call sheet for the project, which will be funded by Lyca Productions.

The film would mark Rajinikanth's second badociation with Lyca after the visual effects extravaganza 2.0 performed by Shankar. Although version 2.0, in which Akshay Kumar played the main role, played in the global box office moolah and surpbaded many records, the film was not entirely profitable for the producer. We learned from reliable sources that Rajinikanth had agreed to reduce his salary for the AR Murugadoss project, which is supposed to be a strong political drama with a fantastic subject.

Murugadoss had previously partnered with Lyca for their first production, Kaththi, starring Vijay in the lead role. The film sparked mbadive controversy in the state after several marginal Tamil groups staged demonstrations denouncing Lyca's alleged ties to former Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa. Thus, the film Rajinikanth would also mark the meeting of Murugadoss with Lyca after five years.

Keerthy Suresh, who was last seen in the dramatic political drama Sarkar of Murugadoss, is the film's lead to interpret the lead role of the heroine alongside Rajinikanth. AR Rahman is also in talks to compose the music of the film, whose pre-production would already take place at a steady pace. A few weeks ago, Murugadoss denied rumors that the film was called Naarkaali (The President).
