Real estate company Godrej Properties announced Friday the acquisition of the landmark RK Studios, located in Chembur, Mumbai, where it will develop mixed-use housing projects including luxury apartments and retail spaces. .

Speaking of the fire and the sale of the property, the Times of India quotes Randhir Kapoor, the eldest son of actor Raj Kapoor, stating, "We sold the property about six to seven months, and it was only a matter of time before we could get things done, it was becoming difficult to manage, even though we were doing everything to maintain it. Hoping that the new owners will respect the studios' legacy, Randhir quoted his father and said, "My dad believed that he had to move forward with time.He always said that the series had to go on, no matter what. Godrej Properties, part of the Godrej Group, announced the creation of a new project in Chembur, Mumbai.

"This 2.2-acre project will provide approximately 33,000 square meters (approximately 0.35 million square feet) of residential apartments of various configurations as well as a retail sales experience of luxury, "said the company in a statement.
