Famous Indian General Yuvraj Singh, recently released by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) prior to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019, is back to compete in the Ranji Trophy match for Punjab at Feroz Shah The stadium of Kotla against Delhi. The match will also see Gautam Gambhir – who was released by Delhi Daredevils after being named captain of the franchise last year. Yuvraj was released by KXIP, who was yet in eighth place in the IPL 2018 points chart.
Yuvraj had already given way to young players from the Punjab team but returned for the Group B match between Delhi and Punjab. After playing his first game of the 2018-29 Ranji Trophy, Yuvraj will also face the next two matches of the Punjab against Himachal Pradesh (December 6-9) and Tamil Nadu (December 14-17). His return will be a major badet for the exhausted Punjab team – who conceded the first leg of their two draws against Andhra and Madhya Pradesh.
Yuvraj, who last represented the men in blue in June 2017, would be looking for some points to help the Punjab record their first win of the season. Like the Punjab, Delhi is also looking for its first win of the season. The first two matches of Delhi against Hyderabad and Himachal Pradesh ended in a draw. Delhi would like Gambhir – who had missed the previous match of the team against Hyderabad due to an injury, hits hard and brings the Delhi campaign back on track.
Yuvraj and Gambhir would be two of the most experienced players to win in the upcoming match. The IPL auction will be held on December 18 in Jaipur. He was named new captain of Daredevils last season, but Gambhir gave up the post after a bad run with the series.
