Real Madrid has confirmed the appointment of Santiago Solari as permanent director after his successful stint as interim guardian.
Solari has won four consecutive victories in all competitions, with 15 goals scored, as acting manager of the Real after Julen Lopetegui's departure last month and has now taken full-time reins up to June 2021. The winners of the Champions League last season are four points behind the leader of La Liga, Barcelona.
A brief statement on the club's website reads as follows: The leaders of Real Madrid CF, meeting today November 13, 2018, have agreed to nominate Santiago Solari as the first coach until June 30, 2021.
The Argentinian Solari played nearly 150 appearances with Real in the early 2000s and returned to the club in 2013 as a youth coach. He then became head of the reserves in 2016 and it was badumed that his promotion to the first team was temporary, with more prestigious names in the frame.
But the success of Solari, as well as the Spanish regulation forbidding a goalkeeper to stay more than two weeks, have earned him a chance as a permanent manager.
The 42-year-old was hoping to get the job. From the beginning, saying after being named, "I will get into things positively and do everything I can. This is a great opportunity.
"In life in general and in this profession, we are all here in transit. Everything is going very fast, the important thing is the daily life. "
