Ridiculous characters like the master of the dogs appear then disappear and the details of the world can be lost between new discoveries and exhibitions. These sequences are brilliantly designed, combining style, grace and excitement to create a fun and incredibly fun end product.
Salazar shines under the name of Alita, bringing warmth, determination and tremendous strength to the lead role. She is serious and seems much more real than we would have anticipated, based on the first glimpses of her strange appearance. In front, his big eyes are hypnotizing.
As always, the waltz is a joy to watch, even if its character is limited by a limited emotional range. His interaction with Alita seems authentic, even though the relationship is growing at breakneck speed.
Mahershala Ali appears as a loser in the role of the Machiavellian vector who manages the motorized balloon and claims to be Nova, the mysterious leader of Zalem. Everything about his character is unsatisfactory and seems untapped.
Other people playing supportive roles that make their presence felt are Jennifer Connelly as an old Ido woman, Chiren, who now works for Vector, Keean Johnson as Hugo, Jorge Lendeborg Jr. as a friend. and Jackie Earle Harley in the role of the monstrous killer cyborg Grewishka. They all have their moments of glory on the screen.
Visually, the film begins with an impressive rush of breathtaking rave inspired patterns and striking clues. Animation and visual effects in 3D are a sumptuous sensory experience, because the world of Alita is rich, diverse and credible, thanks to beautiful scenery and fascinating inhabitants. This possible vision of the 26th century is a marvel to behold.
