The praises of Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy continue to rage. After much praise at the Berlin Film Festival, actors Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt deserve congratulations from celebrities in India and abroad. The film was presented to a crowd of celebrities on Monday and they tweeted their reactions while watching the film.
Fast & Furious and Widows star Michelle Rodriguez called the film "magnificent" and recalled the cultural shift introduced in Caribbean countries by hip-hop a few years ago. Singer and music composer Siddharth Mahadevan said that the film was pure heart. Cameron Bailey, Artistic Director of the Toronto International Film Festival shared on Twitter that he has never seen such an answer for any film in Berlinale in the last two decades. "I watched the world premiere of GULLY BOY tonight in a packed house with @RanveerOfficial gifts, @ aliaa08 & @ZoyaAkhtarOff. The biggest cheers I've heard for over 20 years at the Berlinale, "he wrote next to a photo of Ranveer meeting the audience after the premiere. Ranveer made an energetic rap on the track of the movie "Apna Time Aayega" during the screening and had a "memorable" night.
The film became one of the most anticipated projects in 2019, something that Zoya had not anticipated. "I knew it would attract some attention because there was Ranveer and Alia in the movie and my film is scheduled for three years. But I did not expect the buzz to be so intense. We only hope that we will be up to the situation, "she told PTI.
Gully Boy, produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, is also performed by Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Vijay Raaz. It will be published on February 14th.
