Earlier this week on Raw, WWE announced that US champion status would be discussed.
An announcement was made tonight, WWE claiming that Rey Mysterio would be present Monday on Raw and give up the American title. The separate shoulder that Mysterio suffered at Money in the Bank was the reason advanced for which Mysterio will leave the title.
Mysterio became champion of the United States by defeating Samoa Joe at Money in the Bank, even though Joe's shoulder was lifted when the referee pinned it. Mysterio suffered a shoulder injury at the time of pay-per-view.
Joe made a promo on Raw tonight and mentioned that Mysterio would be next week. Joe said that he would wait to take back the American title.
On Instagram last week, Mysterio released a video showing that he was receiving a platelet-rich plasma treatment for his shoulder. Mysterio said that he had separated a bit of his AC joint at Money in the Bank.
