She belongs to the first Bollywood family. She has the charm, the look and the confidence to become an actress like her parents and her brother, but she left everything to pursue her pbadion. We recently met with businesswoman Riddhima Kapoor Sahni at the launch of a book. Extracts:
First of all, what about the health of your father, Rishi Kapoor?
He's fine, nothing to fear. Anyway, I was never worried. He just finished his routine tests, as he said on Twitter, after so many years of wear. He has done everything and hopes that everything will be fine.
The personal life of your brother, Ranbir Kapoor has always been in the spotlight, and now he was speaking openly to go out with Alia Bhatt. Your take?
Hota hi hai, ask him! What can I say? I am happy if my brother is happy and I am a very happy sister. (smiles)
While your whole family started in the showbiz, you stayed out of it. Why?
I was not interested. I am very old now, but even when I've had the opportunity, I've always been inclined to think about my creative side, fashion, jewelry, and so on. My parents never pressured me (to become an actor), they always supported what I wanted to do. Whether to enter the fashion industry or to get married in Delhi while she is a girl from Mumbai. I'm lucky that my husband supports me too.
What is it about you today?
I have my clothing brand and my jewelry business. My daughter Sam (Samara Sahni) also keeps me on my guard!
Samara is a social media rock star. Your mother Neetu Singh always shares her videos in which she sings / plays …
Yes, she puts her videos. She is also a YouTuber and has started her own channel, which keeps her busy outside her school. It's also what keeps me busy!
Do not you worry about this early exposure and the attention it has?
It's this generation, you can not say much more. They are still exposed to many things on the outside. As parents, we try to control as much as possible. There is a child lock on his device (from Samara), but more than that, I can not control it. There are so many social media and digital broadcasting nowadays. My entire company is online and I am still online. Likewise, she takes after me. But I banned it from Instagram and other social networking sites.
Meanwhile, your father, Rishi Kapoor, has been hailed for his work and his very diverse roles. Do you watch his films?
It's amazing! I watch all his movies. I go to the theater to watch only his films and, of course, those of my brother. I do not think everyone has the chance or a second run. My dad was very successful in his first phase and then started playing different roles in his second run. He is so fantastic and I'm so proud of him. He honestly played all the romantic roles that were offered to him, and now he plays in Mulk, Kapoor and Sons, he even played Agneepath's villain! At the age he is, he is a workaholic and a movie enthusiast.
