RK Studios' new owners, Godrej Properties, turn to IFTDA for plots at Raj Kapoor Museum

Many age – old films have been shot in RK studios and the place is iconic. However, recently, RK Studios was sold by the Kapoor Clan to Godrej Properties.

After the sale, actor Randhir Kapoor also said that the fire of 2017 had damaged everything that was of value in the studios and that it was becoming so difficult to to occupy. So, after deliberation, they decided to abandon it. However, RK Studios has an important place in the history of Indian cinema and the Indian Association of Directors of Cinema and Television has therefore manifested and seduced the new owners.

IFTDA appealed to Godrej Properties in a letter to spare part of the 33,000 sqm property at a museum named after the legendary actor Raj Kapoor. From the letter, "Raj Kapoor is an institution in itself, a source of inspiration for aspiring filmmakers, a guide for media students, a national treasure of superb acting and a connoisseur of melodious music. This institution must be protected for future generations. Even in his interview with TOI, Randhir Kapoor wanted the new owners to treat the RK studios with the same level of dignity and respect as the Kapoor clan. .
