Robert Downey Jr said goodbye to MCU for the moment after Iron Man's death, Tony Stark, in Avengers: Endgame. The actor could make a comeback, but not just like Iron Man.
Marvel Cinematic Universe fans embraced Robert Downey Jr goodbye in Avengers: Endgame. The actor bid farewell to the iconic Iron Man, aka Tony Stark, after 11 years of career in the MCU group. Fans witnessed Tony's death in Avengers: Endgame and finally flooded the Internet with "I love you 3000". A new report suggests that Robert Downey Jr could return in the future of MCU while we are still dealing with his death. However, he might not take over the role of Iron Man.
In recent weeks, RDJ had admitted to seeing Ironheart be introduced in Phase 4 of the MCU. A few days ago, Spider-Man star Far From Home, Tom Holland, also expressed interest in seeing Ironheart appear in the next phase of MCU. If Ironheart is introduced, RDJ could come back as an AI. According to a report in We Got This Covered, sources have the door open for the return of RDJ in an Ironheart movie, if and when that happens. The actor could take back his ego Tony Stark as artificial intelligence.
"This of course corresponds to the tradition of comics, because a facsimile of Shellhead was created several times, though it should not be in the flesh." It is important to note that this "It's not a sure thing but it's actually the subject of studio discussions," the site writes.
While it is question of whether RDJ returns or not in Phase 4 of the MCU, Kevin Feige recently stated that his character will not be forgotten in future movies. Feige told Comicbook.com: "There is something else to avoid in [Spider-Man: Far From Home] now that you've seen it, that we did not want to give in the press. But its position in the world, and dealing with his emotional journey after the death of Tony Stark, we waited until Endgame, of course … Will Tony's death be felt in the coming movies [though]? Oh, yes. "
