Senegalese singer and songwriter Ruma Guha Thakurta died Monday as a result of age-related problems, causing people to remember her for the legacy she left and to cry the loss.
Ruma Guha died at home in Kolkata. She was 84 years old.

The choir has successfully translated the Bengali translations of popular folk songs of various languages. Their records have been honed by music lovers.
In 1974, CYC, under his direction, won first prize at the Copenhagen Youth Festival. After her divorce from Kishore Kumar, she married Arup Guha Thakurta. They have a son Ayan and a girl Sromona, a famous singer.

Ruma Guha shot several films including Lukochuri, Tin Kanya (directed by Ray), Baksho Badal and Amitra Kumbher Sandhane .
Starting from the Hindi film Jwar Bhata in 1944, she starred in Mashaal, Afsar and Rag Rang in Bollywood, before moving to films in Bengali with The Clbadic of Ganga by Rajen Tarafdar in 1952.
Under the direction of Ray, Ruma Guha starred in Abhijaan and Ganasahtru while playing leading roles in three of Sinha's films Nirjan Saikate, Khaniker Atithi Wheelchair .
Majumdar led in Polatak, Balika Bodhu and the evergreen comedy Dadar Kirti . She also played in the first venture of the director of Aparna Sen 36 Chowringhee Lane .
