The first half of Devarattam quickly goes forward with Gautham Karthik, who confidently baderts himself as a hero of action. He looks super fit and his way of performing the action scenes is impressive. But it is hard to understand that this young man can be presented as a one-man army attacking only dozens of morons and the powerful villain!
Manjima Mohan looks simple, but she does not have many opportunities to play. FEFSI Vijayan is pretty impressive but the rest of the actors are just enough. While the first half is watchable, the second half falls completely flat with unwanted songs, action and cliché emotional scenes.
Technically, the music of Nivas K Prasanna is good, but the songs are far too numerous. Sakthi Saravanan captures the rustic settings of Madurai in style while Praveen KL does her best to make the film crisp.
Altogether, Devarattam is an average rural action artist with routine elements that may be suitable for an audience of Madurai, Tirunelveli and surrounding areas.
