KOCHI: The High Court of Kerala on Tuesday ordered the police to limit themselves to public order in Sabarimala and to remove the "arbitrary restrictions" imposed on the shrine at the top of a hill. The court refused to interfere in the current prohibition ordinances and stated that the sanctuary located at the top of a hill was not a place of demonstration.

The HC appoints a group of three members, consisting of two former High Court judges and one officer of rank from the DGP, observers responsible for overseeing the execution of his orders.

He also issued specific instructions on the provision of facilities such as water, toilets and food, as well as security checks, among other issues.
