Sandeep Reddy Vanga, director of Kabir Singh, took a step back after receiving a violent reaction in a recent interview with film journalist Anupama Chopra. In an interview with Deccan Chronicle, Sandeep said the video was mounted "very wrongly."

In his interview with Anupama, Sandeep had justified the protagonist of the film and his girlfriend – played by Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani – by confronting each other to express their When you are deeply in love and deeply connected to a woman (and vice versa), if you do not have the freedom to slap you, then I do not see anything there, "he said. "You say that because Kabir Singh is a hit. You feel, why the need to be on the defensive? But it's not a question of success or failure. This is the mind of some critics who like to shoot a movie that exceeds the bandwidth of an acceptable morality. You can not take two points of my film and make a criticism, "he said.
But despite the negativity, Kabir Singh is a box office success, having already reached the 239 crore of Rs, making it the biggest solo hit of Shahid's career, Bollywood's second-biggest hit in 2019, behind Uri: The Surgical Strike.
