The song 'Vaddi Sharaban' of this week's great album De De Pyaar worked. It contains a free spirit Rakul Preet Singh, who drinks a few sips of alcohol and dances as he pleases. A look at the De Pyaar De cut list reveals that the film got the certificate of censorship on May 7 and that it is 2 hours 14 minutes . There were three changes in the film. Two of them were two-way dialogues. These dialogues were "a better performance hoti hai" and "Manju ji ke aalu O ho ho … wahi ache hai". One can guess that since it is a U / A movie, it was asked to remove these dubbers.
But the third change is amusing to say the least. According to the cut list, the manufacturers had to remove the visual elements when the heroine was holding an alcohol bottle and replace them with flowers. Likewise, in the 19459004 song "Vaddi Sharaban" the scenes of the heroine holding the bottle were changed, which, we suppose, is another word for "considerably reduced". The list also mentions that these changes were made in accordance with the Order of the Court of Appeal for Film Certification (FCAT). For those who do not know, any film submitted for certification is initially viewed by a review committee (EC) of the CBFC. If the filmmaker believes that the cuts requested by EC are unfair, he may contact the Review Committee. If he is still not satisfied, he can appeal to the FCAT. The FCAT is generally considered liberal and comprehensive and has pbaded films such as Raman Raghav 2.0, Mohalla Assi, Kaalakaandi etc., with negligible cuts. Even the recently published No Fathers In Cashmir escaped almost unscathed thanks to the FCAT. It is therefore shocking that the same Tribunal feels badly at the sight of a lady who drinks and cheers happily.
Readers would recall how during the blockbuster of last year Padmaavat a similar type of diktat had been established CBFC. They asked that Deepika Padukone's belly be covered by the song 'Ghoomar' . She played a revered character as a goddess by many people and the film had also provoked mbadive controversy with even reported acts of violence in some parts of the country. The CBFC has therefore become too cautious and has made this request. The manufacturers accepted it and the size of Deepika was covered thanks to CGI. De Pyaar De It is a fictional film and no one in the movie plays a real-life, god-like character.
A source in the industry says, "Let's wait. for the movie to release. We need to know the context of the scene before drawing conclusions. In addition, the part where the flower was put in the place of alcohol might not be part of the mentioned song – it could be a totally different sequence. Even then, it is very strange that such an order was pbaded by the CBFC. We show heroines drinking from 55 to 60 years in our movies, or more. It was so taboo and now it's perfectly acceptable. And the visual elements of 'Vaddi Sharaban' indicate that the manufacturers fired with clbad. This does not seem in any way derogatory. So why did they ask for such a change beats me!
We contacted producer Luv Ranjan to comment, but he was not available. Four years ago, his third company Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 was also treated unfairly by the CBFC. They cut all the abuses in the film and then gave the film an adult certificate.
